WALK Albuquerque is dedicated to creating and enhancing opportunities for walking in Albuquerque and surrounding communities. We are committed to transforming our region into a place where people of all ages and abilities can safely and easily walk to schools, parks, job sites, shopping opportunities, public transit stops, and other destinations.

WALK Albuquerque was formed in 2002 to promote walking for transportation, health and recreation through education and advocacy. Our mission is to create and preserve safe and interesting walking environments that build livable communities and improve quality of life. In 2004, WALK Albuquerque became a partner in the Albuquerque Alliance for Active Living, one of 25 community organizations nationwide selected to receive support from the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation’s Active Living by Design program. This program is examining the relationship between community design and physical activity in daily life, centered on creating environments that support walking and bicycling.
